Here is a piece I was commissioned to make while in Austin, Texas during SXSW. When you watch it, you will not be surprised this was what came out of it. Typically disheveled and throughly out of it. But the food at Maria’s Taco Xpress, and Curra’s was exactly what I needed when hungover in the heat.
Special guest apperance by good buddies Ben Brown and Katie Spence of XOXco. I love these two people.

A Day In Tokyo

One of the things I participated in during my visit to Tokyo was Xacti’s Tokyo Hunt, which was a day of running around taking video with local videobloggers. You can see Tajee’s video of some of our day here.

Building A Burning Man Bus

I’m enjoying making NaVloPoMo videos; keeps me on my toes and gets rid of footage I never used before. Good stuff all around. The structure for this one is based on the visual stylings of Senior Valdez. I tried to one of his tricks justice while still having it feel like something that would be on this site. You know, something for my mom. Hi mom!
This is a video of how we cut off the back walls and roof for Mr. Janky, our 40ft schoolbus we purchased earlier this year.

An Aside: This video was a pain to compress! I’m on Leopard, editing with FCP and they just don’t like each other.
I finally had to run away from it so I can meet my daily quota for NaVloPoMo (worst. name. ever.) NaVloPoMo is about creation. It’s forcing yourself to make a video everyday in November. I’ve decided I’m going to make videos that speak to different audiences, on different sites. November 1st was a password protected video for a couple people (I sent them the link). Yesterday, I made a quick video on Seesmic…but only because this video wasn’t compressing right.
Anyway, its gonna be a long month.

Rabbits and Weddings
Kairsten and I went to one of the more wacky weddings I’ve ever been to in my life: Tap-dancing guests, rabbit ears on everyone, a wedding band called The Stupeds(!), and it took place in an old folks home!
Be prepared for my next video: close-ups of people dancing. I have hours of footage on that subject. You’ve been warned!!

The Bus To Burning Man

End of August means its once again time to pack the truck and head out to Burning Man. This year a couple of us decided to buy a bus and convert it into an art car, and this is my little video to my camp pleading some of them to come help us finish up.
If you are going, come say hi! I’ll be camping at 4:30 and F Street. (I think its called Freshwater this year.)
Also, hopefully this will talk Chuck Olsen into coming out this year. You may also run into Halcyon and Micki!
Testing iMovie08 at Gnomedex

The title says it all. Went to Gnomedex, and while I was there I made a series of videos to post on The Facebooks. (Which I seem to be posting a LOT of videos; there and Vimeo.) Can you feel the excitement?!? Thanks Chris and Ponzi for putting together something that would attract such a vibrant group of people!

An Aside: iMovie08 is a pretty confusing mess if you have already been using their previous versions. It’s totally different, and from the little I have used it, it is not as intuitive as one might hope. And they have far too few options– they didn’t even include Star Wipe! For shame! Anyway, hopefully they will revamp it a little to put all of the features they took away from the previous version…because it may be a pretty package, it sure went downhill in functionality.
